Cancel User Account Best Practices

There are three options for canceling an user account. Each method has a preferred use case.

  1. Disable the account and keep its content. Use this option whenever you need to remove site editing permission from a user. This option will automatically Block the user account and does not impact site content. The user's account remains on the site as a historical record for site owners to see content creation and edits by the user.
  2. Disable the account and unpublish its content. Use this option whenever you need to remove site editing permission from a user and unpublish any content they created.
  3. Delete the account and make its content belong to Anonymous user. Use this option whenever you need to remove a user account from a site. This option is best for users who have not created any content or made content edits.
